Higson retains WBA-NABA Canadian Title at Hamilton Fright Night Card

On Saturday night, in Hamilton Ontario, Canada, Three Lions Promotions brought Professional Boxing back to the steel city, for a third time now, on what turned out to be an action packed card dubbed “Hamilton Fright Night”…and did the fans ever get a pre-Halloween treat! In the Main Event, Hamilton native Kevin Higson outlasted Whitby, Ontario’s, Phil “The Assassin” Rose in an all out slugfest! The showcase bout started off with the bigger and harder hitting Rose coming out of the gate swinging away, looking to land something big on the durable and savvy Higson in the opening round.

Cayman charity benefits as Canadian boxer retains title

Canadian boxing champ and sports ambassador for Health City Cayman Islands, Steven “The Piranha” Wilcox, successfully defended his belt while fighting for a cause during his recent title bout in Canada.

Wilcox, who is now 17-2-1, retained his World Boxing Association-North American Boxing Association (WBA-NABA) super lightweight title by defeating Oscar Arjona from Mexico (13-6-0) by unanimous decision.

As Sports Ambassador for Health City Cayman Islands, Wilcox is donating a portion of his fight purse to the Have a Heart Cayman Islands charity.

Weekend Scorecard: Wilcox and Higson get revenge in Hamilton, Tyson Marquez and Dmitry Kudryashov pick up wins!

Three Lions Promotions brought professional boxing back to Hamilton, Ontario with a BANG Saturday night, where Ontario fighters Steven Wilcox (17-2-1, 5 KOs) and Kevin Higson (11-1, 1 KO) both picked up victories in separate co-headlining bouts at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The show has been dubbed ‘The Tribute” in honour of the late, great(est of all times) Muhammad Ali who passed away one year ago.

Wilcox avenged a 2016 loss to Mexico’s Oscar Arjona with a routing ten round shutout decision with the WBA-NABA super lightweight title on the line.

Proceeds for his upcoming title defense on June 3 in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario and hosted by Three Lions Promotions will benefit lifesaving surgeries for children at Health City Cayman Islands through the Have a Heart Cayman Islands charity.

A Hamilton boxing promoter plans to take a round out of cancer on Oct. 1 at the Hamilton Convention Centre.

Three Lions Promotions is holding Fights for a Cure, a five-card professional boxing card to raise money in memory of Robbie Wilcox, who died in 1995 at age seven after a battle with brain cancer.

Fights for a Cure will raise money for Camp Trillium Childhood Cancer Support Centre.

Two of Robbie’s brothers, Steven and Jessie, members of Steeltown Boxing Club, will fight that night.
