Rozicki, Reznicek ready to clash at Valentine’s Day Massacre fight card Friday in Sydney

SYDNEY, N.S. — Ryan Rozicki and Vladimir Reznicek shook hands on stage at a press conference Wednesday, but those pleasantries will go out the window Friday night.
Rozicki of Sydney Forks will face the Prague, Czech Republic fighter on Friday at the Valentine’s Day Massacre at Centre 200 in downtown Sydney. The Three Lions Promotions boxing card begins at 7 p.m.

“I’m ready,” said Rozicki during the press conference in front of about 50 people.

“I studied (Reznicek) quite a bit. I think it’s going to be a good matchup. It’s going to be a war. I think this is the one everybody has been waiting for, to see me go rounds. I’m really excited to fight him.”

Rozicki will step into the ring for the first time since he suffered a broken orbital bone in a TKO victory over Khetag Pliev (5-1-0, 2KOs) in September. He’ll put his undefeated record (11-0-0, 11KOs) up against Reznicek (9-2-2, 3KOs) for the WBC International Silver Cruiserweight Championship.

Reznicek enters Friday’s bout with some tough, in-ring experience. He fought WBC Continental Americas champion Simone Federici (16-2-1, 7KOs) of Italy to a split draw in 2017. He also battled future IBO world title challenger Vasil Ducar (8-2-1, 7KOs) for the Czech Republic national title.

“(Rozicki) is strong and always well prepared for the fight,” Reznicek said through an interpreter. He added he’s not worried about facing Rozicki in his hometown.

Rozicki isn’t the only Cape Breton fighter on Friday’s card. He’ll be joined by Josh Prince of Georges River, who will make his pro debut against Adam Hazelton (1-0-0) of Yarmouth in a four-round, super middleweight tilt.
