HALIFAX, Nova Scotia.– On June 10th, 2023, Three Lions Promotions (TLP), presents the fighting pride of Nova Scotia Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki (17-1-0, 16KOs) of Sydney, Nova Scotia for 12 rounds of championship boxing at the historic Halifax Forum arena in Halifax, NS.
A native of Sydney, the 28-year-old captured a knockout victory over Arturs Gorlovs (10-3-1, 8KOs) in the cruiserweight division in February of this year at the Hamilton Convention Centre in Hamilton, Ont.
Rozicki, ranked within the top 15 by all four major sanctioning bodies (WBC#7, WBA #12, WBO #14, IBF #10) in the cruiserweight division stopped Gorlovs in at 2:29 the third stanza, to claim his 17th career victory. This latest victory kept his knockout ratio near perfect, having won 16 of his 17 professional wins by way of knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO). His sole loss came over a 12 round decision to Oscar Rivas (28-1-0, 19Kos) in October of 2021, where he challenged for the vacant WBC World Bridgerweight title.
“I am proud to represent Nova Scotia and Canada to the boxing world. The toughest and hardest working people I know come from my province, that’s what gives me the upper hand when I train and fight. I am proud and honoured to showcase to the world who we are and what we are made of.” Explained Ryan Rozicki
According to Managing Director of Three Lions Promotions Daniel Otter, Rozicki’s opponent will be announced in the days to come.
“We really want this to be a breakthrough fight with the opponent being highly ranked and durable, who’s name will be released next week.” Stated Otter
“We want Rozicki to make a statement in front of the Halifax crowd alongside the co main event and undercard. I’m confident this will be the highest caliber of professional boxing to come to Nova Scotia. You never get a second chance to make a first impression, we are here to give the fans what they deserve, real fights under the big lights.” Furthered Otter.
This will be Rozicki’s first fight as a professional in Halifax, with his latest bouts taking place across Canada, including Montreal, Vancouver, Hamilton and his hometown of Sydney, NS. The co-main event will see fellow maritimer and Halifax native, Kyle McNeil (13-4-1, 2KOs) take on Poland’s Arkadiusz Zajac (4-2-0, 1KOs) for 8 rounds or less in the welterweight division. McNeil is coming off a technical draw against Mexican journeyman Luis Ramos Toala (7-19, 5Kos) for the CPBC North American Title, which took place Saturday March 18th in Halifax at the Light House Art Centre.
The undercard will see Rozicki’s TLP stablemates: Ukrainian Light Heavyweight standout Artur Ziyatdinov (14-1-0, 10KOs), Junior Middleweight prospect Jake Daoust (5-1, 3KOs) of Orangeville ON, and former Olympian Lightweight Reda Benbaziz (2-0, 1KO) of Montreal QC.
The card will also include further local Nova Scotian talent with Brett Beaton (3-1, 2KOs), Daniel Beaupre (3-2, 2KOs) and Brandon Osbourne (3-1, 2KOs) who will all be looking to impress their hometown fans for their second scheduled bouts in Halifax of 2023. Opponents for the undercard are to be announced in the days to come.
