On Saturday, December 12, Brandon \u201cL-Jack\u201d Brewer (24-1-1, 11KOs) of Nackawic, New Brunswick, heads to the Hotel Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca, Mexico, to take on Juan Sergio Torres (8-9-0, 6KOs) of Irapuato, Mexico, in a clash of veteran super middleweights. Brewer is coming off a split decision win over Torres\u2019 countryman Josue Castaneda Perez back in February, in his debut under the Three Lions Promotions (TLP) banner. The Brewer-Torres clash will be promoted by Hugo Correa Producciones.<\/p>\n

Brewer is an accomplished professional, looking to transition from domestic dominance to international contendership. In 2014, he defeated Saskatchewan\u2019s Paul Bzdel to claim the vacant CPBC national light middleweight championship. Brewer added the NABA version of the title to his collection the following year, defeating Junmar Emon for the honour in Toronto. Most recently, fans around the globe watched Brewer battle NABA champion Mark DeLuca live on DAZN. Daniel Otter, Managing Director of TLP, is pleased to get Brewer back in action.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring these unprecedented times, we have had to look outside our country to keep our fighters busy,\u201d explained Otter. \u201cBrandon will be the first from our stable to travel south to Mexico since the COVID-19 pandemic gripped us here in Canada. Although this is not our optimal solution to this pandemic, it\u2019s something we have to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have noticed other promoters have been sending their boxers for B side fights,\u201d continued Otter, \u201cbut with the current local restrictions in place, our boxers\u2019 training regimes are less than ideal, with no sparring or proper coaching. We feel we have to provide our stable of boxers with the right fights at the right time. Brandon has been training as hard as humanly possible throughout this pandemic and I\u2019m sure after one or two more \u2018keep busy\u2019 fights he will be ready to take a crack at the top contenders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Torres will be hungry to get a measure of revenge against a Canadian opponent. He\u2019s lost all three of his outings against Canadians, albeit against some of the top talents here in the Great White North. Since losing to NABF champion Lexson Mathieu of Quebec City, however, Torres returned to the win column in June against Luis Acuna Rojas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
